Amen brutha! It really is sickening. And it seems to be getting worse and worse.

I have to admit to being a part of that ‘circle’ at one point, about 10 years ago when it was all brand new. However, I don’t know if it just due to aging/maturing of myself or of the world of digital, but it is now truly disheartening when I see this go on . I really think a lot of people could benefit from some ‘real world’ exposure where they can’t always hide behind their screens and keyboards.

This whole story sickens me. I really do feel sorry for the folks behind Chasing Ghosts, having Mattroid undermine their product–and then get ROASTED by their own fanbase for objecting to the treatment.

Come to think of it … I’ve been seeing a lot of this kind of thing. You know, where people praise the uploader of content more than they praise the creator of content.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an example of such behavior as depraved as what happened to Chasing Ghosts, though.

(As an aside, people wonder why I have a overwhelmingly negative knee-jerk reaction to the emote. If only more of them saw this kind of junk!

I’ve seen way too many people use that emote in the same way that Mattroid uses it to see it, in my mind, stand for anything other than “I’m being an obnoxious jackass and I’m loving every moment of it” haughtiness … )

Marketing is almost an entire “product” in-of-itself, isn’t it? Hold onto your screeners Jason, but be clever about building buzz. Get the “GET LAMP” buzz out in trickling early teaser trailers… turn that never-ending hunger for piracy into your advantage by buzzing the audiences… post torrents for your trailers as “pre-released trailers”… you can learn from the hungry-hoard and use their greed to benefit your projects if you are shrewd. // Now I need to go and see if I can find Chasing Ghosts on Netflix…
